Big Caddy is played in a 2v2 Ambrose (scramble) format. Each team gets 13 cards and strategically plays them throughout the round to challenge the other team. Lowest score still wins, just with a lot more laughs along the way.
No. The cards are designed to be played quickly and within normal golf rules. You can stack cards, play multiple per hole, or hold them, but everything fits naturally into a standard round.
Most groups say it actually keeps everyone more engaged, not slower.
No. Drinks are part of the fun for some groups, but you can swap penalties for push-ups, $5 fines, dares, or whatever fits. The structure works either way.
One box is designed for 4 players (2v2), but you can play 1v1.
For 9 holes each team receives 6 cards.
For 18 holes each team receives 13 cards.
Not at all.
The core format is simple:
- 2v2 Ambrose (scramble)
- Play cards strategically
- Lowest score wins
There’s also a QR code in the rule book with a quick explainer video if you’d rather watch than read.
Most golf games add side bets.
Big Caddy adds interaction.
You’re not just tracking points, you’re:
- Challenging players 1v1 (like Drink Driver)
- Forcing re-shots (Boomerang)
- Turning entire greens into the hole (Greens The Hole)
- Or creating your own rule with The Joker
It changes the feel of the round, not just the scorecard.
Yes and that’s the point.
Because it’s team-based (scramble format), weaker golfers are supported by their partner. And certain cards even level the playing field (like STOP SHOT).
It’s designed so everyone stays involved, not just the best golfer.
Holographic cards (like Hazard Card or Greens The Hole) can’t be stacked against.
Once played, the opposing team can’t play another card on top of it until it’s finished. They’re powerful and best used strategically.
Absolutely.
The Joker card is designed for exactly that. You decide the rule before tee-off.
Some groups use it to block another card.
Some make it a drinking rule.
Some go full Happy Gilmore.
It’s flexible by design.
Not at all.
It’s perfect for:
- Golf trips
- Bucks parties
- Birthday rounds
- Friday work golf
But you can play it as seriously or casually as you like. The format works whether you’re competitive, social, or somewhere in between.
Love it or get your money back.
